Meet Our Director

A Note from Dr. Laura Wallace:

Welcome to Twin Lakes Counseling! I'm so glad you are here.

I have been practicing marriage and family therapy for almost a decade and am truly passionate about the work I do. I have gathered a team of the best therapists around, and if you'll let us, we would love to explore how to use our expertise and your experience to make lasting and powerful change.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing where our work together takes us!

Laura Wallace, PhD, LMFT

Laura received her masters degree from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT, and her PhD from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX. She is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor whose counseling approach integrates systemic, strategic, and Gestalt therapies. Laura specializes in seeing couples and adolescents, and has extensive experience working with families involved in the juvenile justice system and parents at risk of losing their children to substance abuse.

Laura's research interests include the intersection of mental health and education. Her dissertation was entitled "Working on What Works (WOWW): Classroom-level Impact on Teacher and Student Outcomes." This passion for the classroom comes from three years with Teach for America, during which she taught second and third grade in a low-income neighborhood in New Haven, CT. Laura also enthusiastically reaches out to faith communities, drawing on her Christian background and childhood experience growing up on the mission field of Indonesia.

With cross-cultural expertise, a deeply personal understanding of spirituality, and years of experience as a community-based researcher, Laura brings care and compassion to her therapeutic work. She helps clients find freedom and resolution in the midst of struggles so they can more fully enjoy their lives and sense of purpose.
